“Sailing the Greek Isles II” will have the same custom two-week itinerary and will sail May 11 – 25, 2024 aboard the elegant Star Clipper roundtrip from Athens, Greece.

Walking in the shadow of the Acropolis in the Agora, you can almost hear the voices of Plato, Socrates and Aristotle arguing about who was the greatest philosopher. Ancient Athens, known as the birthplace of democracy and the cradle of western civilization, is a city for the ages and a perfect place to begin and end our journey to the Greek Isles.

Mykonos is a charming Greek Island with hills and beaches. Hora is the capital with colorful harbor and great dining spots. We’ll stay here to enjoy the island. We can easily reach nearby Delos Island, a UNESCO site, by ferry.

Skyros

Untouched by international tourists, Skyros is one of those Greek islands with unique character and tradition. Chora, the main town of Skyros, is one of the most picturesque settlements on the island. Nestled on the slopes of a hill, it offers an incredible view of the vast Aegean Sea. Wander the narrow alleys of Chora, have a cup of coffee at one of the traditional coffee shops, explore the Medieval Castle that sits on the top of a hill above Chora.

Skiathos

The most sophisticated of the Sporades, abounds with trendy shops where barely-clad visitors taking time off from the nearby beaches shop for expensive wisps of clothing and jewelry. Go a few blocks inland and you’ll find charming flower-decked houses and gardens overflowing with fruit trees. It is also home to Little Banana nude beach.

Kusadasi in Turkey is a renowned cruise port with lively shops, bars, and eateries. It is also the gateway to the impressive ruins of Ephesus. Visitors can explore the well-excavated ancient city and its wonders. Another stop can be at nearby Camlimani bay, where swimming, snorkelling, and strolling the pine-scented beach are among the activities offered.

Kos also makes a great destination for cycling enthusiasts

Santorini

The island of Santorini is perhaps the most breathtaking of all the Greek Islands. Around 1500 BC, a volcanic eruption destroyed the centre of the island, leaving a crescent shaped rim of cliffs around a harbour formed in the volcano’s caldera.

Hydra is a town of stately mansions all built around 1800 by blockade runners who had made fortunes outwitting the British during the Napoleonic Wars. As there are no cars, for the spectacular view from the Monastery of Ilias you’ll have to ride a donkey to the top.
