The Sofitel private island is one of the premiere romantic destinations in the world, with the nearby mainland of Bora Bora a brief boat ride away. Stepping onto the private island is magical with an instant feeling of being in tune with nature and the quiet atmosphere is like stepping back in time. Being able to enjoy this beautiful exotic location exclusively with only twenty-five other couples makes it a Bare Bucket List destination. Enjoying it au natural with your fellow passengers makes it icing on the cake.
The bungalows are beautifully appointed with everything you’d expect from a five-star resort like the Sofitel. You’ll experience luxurious details like plush towels, bathrobes, free wi-fi (that you’ll never use!), and room service. You’ll enjoy your own unique view of the island of Bora Bora, the crystal waters of the lagoon, and Mount Otemanu from your private patio or overwater sundeck. The amenities of the hotel are combined with lovely island traditions such as upon arrival being greeted by a ukulele player, a flower lei, and a refreshing drink of coconut water served right in the shell. This is just the beginning of your private island experience.
Included in your private island experience is daily full breakfast and three course or buffet dinner at the islands wonderful Manu Tuki restaurant with its 360 degree views. The resort provides kayaking and snorkeling equipment to enjoy all of the abundant sea life right off the beach. Just a short distance away you’ll be in the midst of the variety and abundance of fish that swim in the Coral Gardens, one of the best snorkeling locations in the islands. There will be a wine and cheese party hosted by Bare Necessities as well as a Polynesian dance troupe performance on the beach. There are also many restaurants and shops within walking distance from the resort on the mainland waiting to be sampled and explored.

This offering was so popular on our last Paul Gauguin French Polynesia cruise in 2017 it sold out in seven minutes! In order to allow even more of our passengers the opportunity to experience this amazing private island we’ve arranged a three day takeover BEFORE and AFTER the cruise!
The Sofitel has also added extra amenities to all accommodations including a mini bar replenished daily with local beer, mineral water, soda, and fruit juice for two. Extra features have also been added to the six overwater bungalows that have a 180 degree panoramic view of the lagoon. Available now is a large Hillside Villa with a private beach, extended private verandah with a hot tub, and small kitchen, bar, living area with separate bedroom perfect for anyone in the mood to throw a party.

Returning to paradise at Sofitel’s Private Island in Bora Bora was an easy decision for us. When we offered the same package in 2013 and 2017 it sold out immediately and turned out to be one of the best resort buy-outs we have ever hosted. We can’t wait to return to “Bali Hai” and we hope you can join us!
NOTE: Passengers are responsible for arranging their flights to Bora Bora from the Papeete airport. There are several morning flights. Return flights from Bora Bora to Papeete on the day we board the ship should be made between 12 noon and 1:30. We have arranged boat transportation to and from the resort to the Bora Bora airport and ground transportation that will bring you from the Papeete airport to the ship or vice versa.
