Next Stop: Tanna
Bare Necessities aboard the Paul Gaugin will anchor off the beautiful black sand beach of Tanna, Vanuatu. Known for the active volcano, Mount Yasur, as well as the native Yakel Village Tribe, this island features luscious uninterrupted green terrain blanketing the hillsides. The Yakel Tribe, dressed in elaborate costumes and tribal paint greet our passengers with dances that the tribe rehearses for months specifically for this occasion. The bond that the Yakel Tribe forms with our passengers and the joy of singing and dancing with them is an experience one will certainly cherish the rest of their life.
During our visit to Tanna, we will also have the opportunity to visit the Mount Yasur volcano and hike up to the edge of the caldera and peak inside. Here you will have the chance to watch sparks and chunks of rock and lava soar upward from the pit of the volcano. Truly a hair-raising experience.
Bare Necessities has visited many special places in the world, however, Tanna Island, Vanuatu is one of the most special. We hope you have an opportunity to join us on this 17-night adventure which is sure to be one for the books.
