Bay of Maimon and surrounded by hills lush with tropical plants, this private cruise port has shops, local food and drink as well as being the starting point to an island that offers something for everyone.

For those interested in venturing outside of the cruise port, the history buff has a chance to explore Fort San Felipe. Christopher Columbus discovered Puerto Plata in the 1490s and it became one of the first European settlements in the New World. Visit the local museums and landmarks to learn more about its Spanish colonial past. A popular destination worth seeing is the Amber Museum. The local amber found in the Dominican Republic, renowned for its remarkable clarity, is on display along with an impressive assortment of fossilized gemstones.

Amber Cove is also the gateway to adventure with a variety of excursions available on land and sea. Traverse the Waterfalls of Rio Damajagua, take a ride on an ATV through the undiscovered Dominican Republic backcountry, or snorkel amongst an array of tropical fish. If a bare excursion is what you seek aboard our upcoming Big Nude Boat, Carnival will be working closely with the tour operators to offer clothing-optional excursions. After a day of history and adventure in the Dominican Republic, make sure to cool off at the complimentary Aqua Zone found within the cruise port.

We will be stopping in Amber Cove during our Conquering the Caribbean cruise, Feb 13 – 27, 2022. This port will be ours exclusively to allow our guests to enjoy this resort-style pool area au naturel. Relax on the sun loungers and enjoy a frosty drink from the swim-up bar or choose to spend a full day of nude relaxation renting one of the nearby private cabanas.
