In a recent study conducted by the Journal of Happiness Studies, researchers found the ultimate psychological benefits of naturist activities resulted in an increase of positive body image.  To conduct the study, 849 members of Britain were recruited via word of mouth and internet advertisements. Participants were asked to state whether or not they had ever taken part in any type of “clothes free activities”, those in which the participant had even fully or partially undressed outdoors or in the company of other people, not including close family or any type of romantic partner.  The researchers purposely avoided labeling these activities nudist or naturist in order to not skew perceptions or behavior. The study required all participants to complete questions regarding measures of body image, self-esteem and life satisfaction.

What the researchers found is those who participate in Naturist activities are more likely to have a positive body image, which results in higher self-esteem of one-self as well as overall life satisfaction.
