A valid passport is required for travel. Check your passport expiration date carefully. All passengers must have a passport valid for 6 months after your return date. If your passport expires before January 20, 2019, you will need to have it renewed. Any guest without proper documentation will not be allowed to board the vessel and no refund of the cruise fare will be issued. Bare Necessities assumes no responsibility for advising guests of visa requirements.
Non U.S. citizens should contact the nearest embassy or consulate office for current passport and/or visa requirements for your entire journey.
Port taxes & fees, estimated at $550 per person, are due May 10, 2019. Gratuities are paid on board and are $150 US per person charged to your on board account in the equivalent amount in Euro (€).
You will receive your Star Clipper e-Docs (electronic cruise tickets) and luggage tags via email approximately 30 days prior to the cruise. Passengers first and last name on the e-Docs must be exactly as they appear on the passport. Middle names are not necessary. Please call our office with your passport information as soon as possible. Passport information is required to submit your reservation to the cruise line. Please do not email this information.
If you plan to be traveling 30 days prior to our cruise and do not have access to a printer, please let us know and we will bring your documents to the pier.
A list of shore excursions, including any clothes-free excursions, will be provided with your e-Docs (electronic cruise tickets) approximately 30 days prior to the cruise. All shore excursions are available for purchase onboard the Royal Clipper starting on embarkation day.
The Port of Cannes is a tender port. The Royal Clipper will be anchored in the bay and passengers will be shuttled from the shore to the ship. Embarkation is scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM. The ship is scheduled to depart at 10 PM.
If arriving early passengers may drop their luggage at the cruise terminal which is located near the famous Cannes waterfront Boulevard La Croisette where they will find restaurants, bars, and shops.
The Royal Clipper will disembark at the Port of Cannes on Saturday August 3, 2019. Once the ship has been cleared by local Immigration and Customs officials, disembarkation will begin at approximately 8 AM. Please consider booking your flight departing no earlier than 12 Noon.

For disembarkation, Star Clippers offers two types of transfers:
For passengers with a flight before 1 PM the transfer departs at 8:30AM. For passengers with a flight after 1 PM the transfer departs at 10 AM.

Star Clippers will also offer two shore excursions on debarkation to Saint Paul de Vence and Grasse with both ending at the airport around 1 PM.

All luggage must be securely packed and clearly labeled with passenger’s full name, ship’s name, cabin number and date of sailing. Luggage tags will be included with your e-Docs. We recommend that travel documents (cruise tickets, passport, and visa), valuables, and medication be hand carried in your carry-on bag. Neither Star Clippers, Ltd., nor Star Clippers Americas, nor Bare Necessities are responsible for any loss, theft or damage to passenger’s luggage or personal property. This cruise is round-trip from the Port of Cannes, France, beginning Saturday, July 20, 2019 and returning on Saturday August 3, 2019. The closest airport to the port with international and domestic flights is Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE / LFMN). This airport is located in Nice, France, and is 29 km (18 miles) and approximately a 36 minute drive from the Port of Cannes, France. If possible arrive a day early and arrange flights no earlier than noon at debark.
Star Clippers will offer transfers from the Airport in Nice to the Port of Cannes on the day of embarkation for minimum 2 passengers at $77.00 per person, one way. More information on how to purchase these transfers will be emailed when passengers receive their booking numbers and e-Tickets via e-mail approximately 30 days prior to the cruise.
Alternatives to Star Clippers Transfers
As of April 2018 Taxis have a fixed rate of 80 Euro from Nice to Cannes. Hotels can help you arrange a taxi. Uber is also available. Private car services may be arranged prior to the cruise via the internet. From the airport make your way to the St. Augustin railway station where you can get a train to Cannes for approximately 5 Euro. It can be walked in about 15 minutes or take a taxi to the station. Source: raileurope.com
Trains from Nice to Cannes take 30 minutes, depart once an hour every day of the week from 7:45 AM to just before midnight. The bus from Nice to Cannes is number 200 from rue Verdun/Albert 1er, but there are other stops along the Promenade des Anglais. Cost is 1.50 Euro
and buses leave every 15 to 20 minutes 7 days a week. It takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to arrive in Cannes by bus. Airport Express Bus #210 connects the airport and Cannes directly and runs twice per hour. Travel time is around 50 minutes. Single one-way fares are 22 Euro, open returns are 33 Euro, and a group of 4 can travel together for 66 Euro. Tickets can be bought from the bus ticket windows at the airport, directly from the driver, or online. The ticket is valid for that particular day and does not guarantee a place on a specific bus. Your cruise includes all meals and most alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages aboard the Royal Clipper. However, premium brands of alcohol and champagne, gift shop items, spa services, some shore excursions, and laundry cost extra. All items and services purchased on board may be charged to your shipboard account. During the embarkation process the ship will take your credit card information and give you a key card. This is your stateroom key, personal identification card, and also used to charge services and products provided on board the ship. Each account can be settled in cash or credit card on the final day of the cruise. The following credit cards are accepted: Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Personal checks and Discover are not accepted on board. Please note that the currency used on board the ship is in Euro (€).
It is also a good idea to bring along Euros in smaller bills for miscellaneous use when only a small amount of currency is needed. Cash machines are available at the airport and around the cities and usually offer the best exchange rates.
American Express, Visa and MasterCard are accepted at most major hotels, shops and restaurants, as well as on board the ship. ATM machines are a good source for obtaining foreign currency. When traveling abroad, it is often a good idea to telephone your credit card companies in advance of departure and inform them of your travel plans. Doing so may prevent your card from being “tagged” as stolen and may prevent inconveniences.
If you have not already done so, we ask that you purchase trip cancellation insurance. We do not want you to be one of our unfortunate passengers who does not purchase trip insurance and find themselves unavoidably having to cancel the cruise. Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages for consumption on board the ship. Alcoholic beverages purchased in ports of call will be stored and returned at the end of the voyage.
Important Health Information
A qualified physician or registered nurse is either on staff or is available from shore. In addition, the ship’s officers are qualified in administering first aid. Any applicable fees for medical services rendered on board will be charged to your account and presented for settlement at the end of the cruise.
A telephone is provided in each cabin. The cost for outgoing and incoming phone calls is 4 Euro per minute. All calls will be billed to the passengers on board account. Price is subject to change. Should someone wish to contact a passenger at sea, they may do so by calling the Star Clippers Americas office at 305-773-3541 and the information will be forwarded to the ship. Passengers contacted from shore via fax will be charged on board.

Passengers can purchase an internet card on board the ship. Service is dependent upon satellite signal (location and weather). You may receive e- mails on board through the Purser’s Office; they will be printed and delivered to your cabin at a nominal charge. WIFI is available in the Library, Tropical Bar and Piano Bar. If you need to stay in touch with family and loved ones, they may send an email to the Royal Clipper at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Royal Clippers electrical output is 220 volts (European Current). Hair dryers are provided in your cabin, for your convenience. Adapters are necessary on board the ship, as well as on land, if you plan to bring 110 volt electrical appliances with you.
Star Clippers and Bare Necessities are not responsible for loss or theft of jewelry, cash or other valuables. Each room has a safe. We encourage you to make use of this amenity.
Laundry services and dry cleaning services are available at an additional cost and may be arranged through your room steward.
To safeguard the health of our passengers, smoking is not allowed at any time in any interior areas of the ship. Smoking is permitted only in designated areas on the outside decks (Starboard side only). Smoking is prohibited on the aft decks and on the balconies.
The Royal Clipper does not have elevators. If you have mobility issues, please contact us immediately.
What to Pack? Passengers may be bare in all areas on the ship except the dining room, where clothing is required. Shorts and t-shirts are perfectly acceptable dining room attire. Other times that clothing will be required is when customs officials board, during local folkloric performances aboard the ship or if we are docked alongside in port in view of land or other vessels.
When on shore, the climate calls for casual and comfortable clothing. Pack loose-fitting, natural fabrics, and plenty of casual shirts, walking shorts and comfortable footwear.
Essentials? Sunscreen, brimmed hats, sunglasses, swim suits for some shore excursions, beach shoes, bug repellent and any prescription medicine authorized by your physician.
