Carnival Sunshine – Top 10 Helpful Tips
1. Plan to visit the specialty restaurants onboard.
The Sunshine has delicious food in the Main Dining Room, Lido Buffet, Guys Burger Joint, and Blue Iguana Cantina and it is all included in the price of the cruise. However, you also have excellent dining options at the numerous specialty restaurants listed here:
Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse:
Best of all you can enjoy this amazing food for a combined total of only $100 per person for all four restaurants! Make reservations with your friends for JiJi’s and the Cucina Del Capitano and savor a sample of everything because the food is served “Family Style”.
2. Need to get from one end of the Ship to the other? Use Deck 5.
You can’t always get there from here. Be aware, the galley is located between the sunrise and sunset dining rooms on Deck 3 and the Limelight Lounge on Deck 4 will be closed for lectures and workshops on sea days. Use Deck 5 as much as possible. All paths lead through the Casino on Deck 5, which is going to be smoke-free for our charter! For our passengers who smoke there is a comfortable smoking area located on Deck 10 (starboard side) and also on Deck 3 (port side). Bar service will be available at these locations.
3. Try the Ocean Plaza on Deck 5 for a light breakfast and lunch.
Passengers may eat nude on the Lido so it can occasionally get crowded. If this happens take the elevators to Deck 5 and try the mini-buffet in the Ocean Plaza. It is self-serve and you can also eat nude here. If you need a pick-me-up after your meal there is a specialty coffee shop right around the corner. Maybe even try a spiked milkshake?
4. Don’t miss the entertainment and production shows.
The Playlist production shows are a perfect way to start off a night of entertainment. During the performances in the Liquid Lounge, you’ll get up close to the Playlist production cast and even feel part of the show! The cruise line will also provide a variety of comedians onboard and Bare Necessities has invited Jan & Bart from “A Taste of Love” to perform in the Ocean Plaza for pre and post dinner dancing. Join Balazs in the Piano Bar for some sing alongs and Xavier from Cypress Cove will keep the party going until wee hours of the night.
5. Attempt the ropes course, the water slides, juggling, and line dancing.
Bring our your inner child and try some of the fun games like Ping-Pong, Mini-Golf, and Foosball. Watch out for the dreaded “water wedgie” when you race down the dueling water slides. We’ll have juggling and line dancing classes as well, so get off your lounger and join us for all our ship board activities.
6. Participate in our Bare Fest Events.
Costumes for these events can be as simple as a hat or bow tie. Wear your Prom dress to dinner then wear only your corsage to the dance. We’ll have a dining room full of Mad Hatters, but afterward everyone could be Cheshire Cats wearing nothing but a smile. The Crafty Cruisers will be on board to help!
7. Budget extra money for the nude shore excursions.
We have arranged to be the only ship in port while in Mahogany Bay and Carnival has quite a few nude excursions available for our guests. We highly recommend taking advantage of these excursions in Mahogany Bay and Cozumel. Passion Island in Cozumel has always been a passenger favorite on past bare cruises.
8. Schedule a Massage in the Cloud 9 Spa.
The Cloud 9 massage therapists are available to pamper you and help you relax on your vacation. There is a wide range of massages available at $129 (50 minutes) and discounted rates on port days. Space is limited. We recommend making a reservation when you get your booking number in December or visit the spa when you arrive onboard for more information. https://www.
9. Be Considerate and Share the Chair.
Only your bottom can reserve a deck chair. Personal items left on deck chairs longer than 20 minutes will be removed and placed at the towel stand on the pool deck. Carnival’s staff as well as Bare Necessities staff will be enforcing this rule and are not responsible for any items left unattended. Please take into consideration your fellow passengers and don’t be a deck chair hog!
10. You won’t want to miss a thing! Read your Daily Newsletter, aka The Fun Times.
All of Carnival activities as well as Bare Necessities workshops, lectures and events will be listed in the printed daily newsletter. Your Fun Times are delivered every night. We recommend keeping it handy during the day so you don’t miss a thing!
Bonus tip: Download the complimentary Carnival HUB app in order to view Carnival activities, times and locations as well as check your onboard account. Also choose to stay in touch with friends while onboard the ship. The Chat option is available for purchase at only $5 per person. You’ll be able to send messages your friends throughout the voyage.
