Bare Aboard & Beyond: The Sunshine Cruise

If you’ve been wondering when and where you can be bare aboard the ship and ashore during the Sunshine cruise, you’re in the right place. We’re here to tell you that while at sea you may be bare anywhere on the ship except the main dining room and specialty restaurants. You may eat in the buff at the buffet, coffee shop, or any other self-serve locations and when the ship is docked in port you need to be dressed unless an announcement is made that specifies otherwise.

HALF MOON CAY, BAHAMAS
You may be bare on the ship and island because we are at anchor and have arranged to be the only ship there. However, you will need to dress on the ferry that takes you from the ship to the island. This is a bare island beach day and you may be bare everywhere. However, the Bahamians request that we wear something when going through the BBQ lunch buffet on the island and while visiting the shops — a sarong, shorts, or towel will be fine.

You may use your cabin card for purchases including beverages from the island bars and water sports equipment rental. The Straw Market only accepts cash. Bahamians will accept US Dollars. You may reserve a cabana when you get your Carnival booking number a month before the cruise. Please note that there are only 14 cabanas on the island and they get reserved quickly. You may also rent a “clamshell” sunshade for a small additional fee.

IMPORTANT: All paid shore excursions in Half Moon Cay (horseback riding, glass-bottom boat, etc.) offered by Carnival require clothing unless the information specifically states the excursion is clothing optional: https://www.carnival.com/shore-excursions/half-moon-cay

OCHO RIOS, JAMAICA
The ship will be docked at the pier in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Because the ship is alongside others we must be dressed on the ship unless there is an announcement that says otherwise.
There are many popular attractions in this port including Dunns River Falls. There are many options for paid shore excursions. Read the reviews to help make your selection: https://www.carnival.com/shore-excursions/ocho-rios
Carnival is negotiating with private beaches and private catamaran tour operators to offer bare excursions for our charter. On a past charter, Dolphin Cove’s beach was bare, but we have not received the full list for our current charter. We will email that information as soon as possible. Excursions may not be purchased until you receive your Carnival Booking Number approximately one month prior to the cruise.
You may be able to arrange a day pass to visit a bare beach or bare island at a local resort if you contact them ahead of time: https://couples.com/resorts/sans-soucihttps://couples.com/resorts/tower-isle. Here is an online article about what to do in Ocho Rios that you can explore on your own:  http://www.cruiseportinsider.com/ochorios.html

Booking tours through the cruise line are the best way to guarantee a reliable tour because they use safe, licensed, and insured tour operators. While in Ocho Rios, beware of scams involving locals trying to sell “ganja”.

MAHOGANY BAY, ROATAN
We have reserved the private cruise port of Mahogany Bay on the Island of Roatan for our exclusive use. We will be the only ship in this port so you will be able to be nude on the ship while it is docked. We are requesting to use the beach nude as well. The last time we were in this beautiful facility the people working at the beach did not have an issue with the nudity and we are hoping this will be the case once again.

You will have to dress when leaving the ship and walking through the area with the shops and when using the “Flying Beach Chairs”.
Also, unless the excursion specifically states it is clothing optional clothing will be expected. However, there is a catamaran excursion and an excursion to a private island that may be made nude for our charter. We’ll have more information about this later this year.
The beach has facilities and a bar/restaurant with local food. You may also rent a cabana or reserve a clamshell on the beach.

Carnival is looking into making some shore excursions bare as well. Here is more information about shore excursions in Mahogany Bay:

COZUMEL, MEXICO

In Cozumel, we will also be docked right outside a large cruise terminal owned by Carnival. There is usually another ship which means we must be dressed on board.

However, there is nearby private island Isla Pasion (Passion Island) and Carnival has confirmed this excursion will be made nude for our charter. It has always been a popular excursion for our passengers. Here is the description:

Enjoy a scenic 45-minute motorized catamaran cruise to the picture perfect Isla Pasion for a day of relaxation; swing in a hammock, browse the souvenir stores, swim or sunbathe, enjoy complimentary beach chairs, volleyball and kayaks. A complimentary domestic open bar serves both alcoholic and soft beverages. Lunch features a Mexican-style buffet with guacamole, barbecue chicken and grilled mahi-mahi, and fresh fruit.

We also have had a bare excursion to Fury Beach by catamaran with lunch that everyone really enjoyed on a past cruise. However, the snorkeling stop mentioned in the online description may not be included in the excursion arranged for our charter because it may be used by other tour operators for other ships that are in port that day. However, it would still be a nice bare beach combined with a bare catamaran cruise!
We will have more information about the bare shore excursions offered by Carnival for our charter soon.
