With so many different ways to travel, cruising is the best way to see a maximum number of ports in a short amount of time, take notes and then plan on going back for a longer stay in the future. After Bare Necessities 30th Anniversary Cruise on the annual Big Nude Boat celebration stopped in Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico, we promptly moved this destination to the top of the list as it became a passenger highlight of the cruise.

Situated about halfway between Cozumel to the north and Belize City to the south, this sleepy fishing village with a population just under 1,000 is a little slice of paradise. Carnival Cruise Lines arranged a fabulous excursion to La Bamba Beach Club exclusively for Bare Necessities passengers. After touring through a village reminiscent of Playa del Carmen 30 years ago, passengers arrived at La Bamba and were greeted by friendly staff, lively music and a breathtaking beach backdrop. An open bar awaited along with a sun lounger and a traditional mouth watering Yucatán lunch buffet as well as additional options to soak in the pool, explore offshore on a kayak, or play beach volleyball and all in the buff!
